I locked myself out channel #opers.

Post by Rexodus »

Hi there.

I'm brandnew to UnrealIRCd and in the first day I managed to mess up real bad! I turned #opers into > 0 [+sntizOPZCc] and after a while I rebooted the computer with the last client in that channel  . Good learning moment but I don't see the exit. I need to remove the 'i' somehow.

I've been searching and trying for a while but even the Oper doesn't have enough power to force join that channel as far as I can tell? I tried to invite myself but it says I'm not in that channel. Duh! I tried to remove the whole channel but afaics there is no feature for that. I tried to /mode that channel -i without any result. Now I'm out of ideas.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem before I re-install the whole thing? According to Google, I seem to be the only one on this planet who managed to pull off such stupidity.

Many thanks in advance!

hi

firstly, check your unrealircd config that your opertype is netadmin. don't forget you need to actually "/oper opername password" on IRC after you've connected.

if you make any changes, you should be able to update the changes by using the command "/rehash"
once you've got that and you're opered (should have usermode +o at this point) you should be able to use "/sajoin yourname #channel"

you can also try "/samode #channel -i"

good luck

TnX for your reply. And I tried that too. I have (+iostwxz) but /sa* doesn't work here.

My version is UnrealIRCd-5.2.1.1 and I installed it from the TARball on Ubuntu server 18 LTS.

final thing I can think of then, specifically for unrealircd, is change your opertype in the unrealircd config from:
"netadmin"
to:
"netadmin-with-override"

then rehash, and you should have access to /sacmds

If you have usermode +o, try /mode #chan -i

Please check those 2 pictures. I hope it explains what I'm doing wrong...

ahh okay looks like your client doesn't understand the commands and isn't forwarding it to the server perhaps?

Back after dinner. Now I get this error. Seems a Java problem according to Google?

I was trying to mode -i the channel with no avail. In fact, whatever mode I try to add or remove fails.

I don't see any problem with the log you're pasting (but you should also include the command you use for better understanding).
The response "End of Channel Exception List" is a valid response for command "/mode #channel e" (listing channel exceptions) when the exception list is empty. You probably want to use "/mode #opers -i"?

hi again
after a quick check here https://www.linode.com/docs/guides/usin ... elay-chat/
I can't see that irssi supports a lot of commands, and would seem you have to prefix a lot of commands with the same as before
/quote mode #channel -i

Yes! /quote 'mode #opers -i' did the trick. Thank you all very much! :D
