[SOLVED] Illegal characters for Nick ?

I see the "Important Notes" section here: UnrealIRCd Nick Characters, which clearly states:

""The following basic nick characters are always allowed/included: a-z A-Z 0-9 [ \ ] ^ _ - { | }
Nicknames cannot begin with number or /
"

So, I thought I'd use a - in my nickname, but I'm getting this error.

Code: Select all

-Usernames Nickname is unavailable: Illegal characters
I'm a bit confused about why this is happening. I couldn't find what I need to do, as I'm running the latest UnrealIRCd and Anope, which I set up just a few days ago.

I hope someone can shed some light on what might be going wrong. Is it possible that the document needs updating, or does UnrealIRCd require an update?

Thanks!

Hello,

As far as I know you can't also start your nick with -.

The docs will be upgraded accordingly.

Thanks for this report.

Cheers

The documentation regarding Nick Character Sets was updated the same day.

It clearly stats that nicknames cannot start with a number, a slash or a hyphen.
