Webinterface or Web-Frontend for UnrealIRCD 3.2

Post by Asisito »

Hello @ all,
I set up Unreal 3.2 with Anope and Eggdrop successfully, and I have to admit that I have a lot of fun with it :)

Due to the fact that I have plans to run somekind of FanClub for a small band, I want the members of this FanClub to join a certain channel on my server, where they can meet the band exclusively. But I don´t want them to install any client software.

Question:
Is there anything like a Chat-Webinterface,, that they can use for the chatting? Something I can implement on my website? Or is chatting on my Unreal3.2-Server only possible with clients people have to install.

Thanks a lot for your help!

There are many options out there available for this. 2 examples would be PJIRC, a Java based IRC client applet (which obviously only requires the end user have java run-times installed) and another othion is CGI:IRC which is even more client independant but the only problem with it is many web hosts refuse to allow it due to the high server load it requires.

Both are basically browser based IRC clients suitable for websites.

PJIRC can be found at http://www.pjirc.com and CGI:IRC at http://cgiirc.sourceforge.net/

There's also CoolSmile (http://www.coolsmile.net/chat/download.php), which is a java applet that loads quickly and is small in size. It does not have many features, but it's simple enough for a n00b client.
