Post by R2-D2 »

Im running the latest version of Unreal IRC and im new to all this. Ive created a MOTD File and saved it as MOTD in the Unreal file on my HDD. Ive gone to rehash and selected MOTD it says
[16:37:11] -**- *** Notice -- Rehashing all MOTD and Rules files via the console
but nothing elese happens and the motd file is not found

am i doing something wrong?

your MOTD file needs to be named "ircd.motd"

No. Once you change the name of the file you just need to rehash the server.

Are you by any chance running Unreal on windows?

Secondly, if using windows, when you right click on the file and click properties does it say for "Type of file": "MOTD File" or "Text Document"?

A "config file"?

When i right click on mine on windows, then click properties it says beside "Type of File": "MOTD File"

Why i was asking is by default windows hides known file extensions such as .txt so if you edited it in notepad and saved it as ircd.motd notepad would normally by default save that as ircd.motd.txt and would then appear as ircd.motd even though being a .txt
