That is the users hashed IP, because Unreal did not receive a hostname from DNS. You should verify your DNS settings on your system, as well as a couple Unreal settings:

For Windows: nslookup <user's IP>
For *nix: host <user's IP>

If those don't work, you need to check the DNS settings on the computer running Unreal.

Also be sure you DO NOT have set::options::dont-resolve set

Well, i think the DNS settings on my system is OK.

example with a "normal" host:
at home

Code: Select all

host 80.142.211.132
Name: p508ED384.dip.t-dialin.net
Address: 80.142.211.132
server:

Code: Select all

host 80.142.211.132
132.211.142.80.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer p508ED384.dip.t-dialin.net.
with a *.IP host
home and server:

Code: Select all

host 217.232.20.28
Nameserver not responding
217.232.20.28 PTR record not found, try again
set::options::dont-resolve is not set in the unrealircd.conf

Is it possible that the user's DNS is not correct?

This problem i only have with users which are using a *.IP host, the others are OK.
kind regards

There are a good many IP addresses out there which havn't had a reverse host set up for them and it's usually those that get a *.IP cloaked host or IP's that the lookup timed out for.
