Hi all,
I am curious if anyone has ever tested UnrealRCd on Windows for the maximum number of connections.
I know all about changing the FD with linux, and I am not asking about memory requirements, or bandwidth. I Know that all depends on how UnrealIRCd is being used.
I am only interested in the theoretical limit for the number of connections for UnrealIRCd on Windows.
How is that number set and what is that number?
Does it matter which version of Windows you are using?
Does Windows limit the number of connections?
How many connections are the compiled Windows versions of UnrealIRCd set up to use?
Thanks in advance,
Koach

Re: max users on windows UnrealIRCd
Currently Windows XP may allow anywhere from 10 to 5000 connections, and is set by the internal workings of Windows. I have not seen any way to increase this number (if too low) without risking the stability of the operating system. I have personally had 500 cloned connections to a network from my XP Pro desktop, but have seen other systems have large differences.
I do not know how well server 2003 or Vista handle large numbers of connections
