Connection Issue: Unable to connect (connection refused)

Post by Joe2209 »

I can load Unreal, the services I use start and everything - I just cannot get others to connect.

I've opened ports 6667-7000 in the firewall, port forwarded in my router, etc. I still cannot get others to connect. The only way I can connect is by using "localhost". My IP just doesn't work...

I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

9 times out of 10 you cannot connect to the external/public IP address of your router from internally (on your LAN).

If you tell someone else your IP they can check for you to see if the ports are open.

It works just fine for me. Looks like it is exactly as Jobe described.

Ah, so it works?!?!

By the way, how did you get the IP? I never said it in my post...

Oh good, it does work. I'm using the computer at work right now, and I used a CGI IRC to connect to my server (irc.lvrcr.com)...thanks for all your help guys. :)

He got your IP because he has moderator/admin access to the forum, and consequently can see which IP posted your post.
