CGI IRC

Post by Perfekt »

I searched, couldn't find anything related to it.

I've set up a client, and everything works, until it attempts to connect to my server.

My question is, what code do I need to add to my unrealircd.conf to allow CGI connections?

That's what I've gathered I need to do after quite a bit of searching.

Much appreciation and thanks to those who help.

as long as webirc_password in cgiirc.config is commented out then CGIIRC should be able to connect without any changes.

However if you want CGIIRC users to show their real ip/hostname then you will need to read the documentation for the, you guessed it, "cgiirc" block.

I just commented it out and uploaded the change, but it's still the same problem.

www.shangrilairc.net

Click the CGI link and you will see what I'm talking about.

It's like it gets stuck, after it finds the host and attempts to connect to it.

That looks like a problem with your web host, not UnrealIRCd.

Also, do bear in mind, MOST web hosts don't like/allow CGI:IRC on their servers because of how it works, others don't like ANY IRC client, even PJIRC out of ignorance/incompetence in thinking PJIRC behaves the same as CGI:IRC does.

I'll keep that in mind. We already have a PJIRC client running for the network on my personal website host.

We'll get it workin' sooner or later. I mean, it's not NEEDED, but a lot of people are afraid to install java on their computers, or download an IRC client.

I dunno why, but oh well. Lol.
