preventing users from using a spacific nick

hello all

i have a question about preventing users from using my nick when i am not in the room or if moofed. Is there a way to keep them from even being able to use the nick if it is not authed?

You can do this with most services packages, see the documentation for Nickserv SET KILL (this is the typical setting), and refer to the documentation for your services.

If you are an IRCOp and have the correct privileges, you can set a Q:line (see ban nick block). This will prevent any non-opered users from using that name (including yourself until you identify to your o:line.

Ideally you should probably do this with a services package of some kind though - it would be simpler..
