I wouldnt advise the use of epona, very old
Rather try anope, http://www.anope.org (based off epona)
Check your link block carefully, if you still have trouble, post again.

What don't you understand about "No link block named 'services.crosys.mine.nu'"? Whatever it is, did you have a look at the UnrealIRCd FAQ (question #25)?
In other words, it isnt services causing the problems. Rather, your unrealircd.conf file...
So anope isnt broken, epona is outdated, and auspice is worse than epona.

Someone emailed me just the other day to say that Epona is being developed again. 1.4.17 was released on http://www.epona.org just a few days ago. I have not even looked at it though, so I have no idea about the quality. I assume Anope has fixed several bugs from Epona (well I know they have since I fixed a few myself), and as far as I can see from the change log, those fixes were not added. So no idea about whether it is good or not.epona is outdated

post your link data (minus the passwords) from unrealircd.conf.I3a4 wrote:i have searching on google, and i have founded epona, my only problem is " *** LocOps -- Link denied for services.crosys.mine.nu() (No link block named 'services.crosys.mine.nu') [@161.53.201.4.40647] "

In my honest opinion, sometimes that's a good approach to solve configuration issues, however if the person asking for help doesn't know what a named block is, I suppose he/she don't have all the basic knowledge about the configuration format. Or the documentation isn't clear enough? Anyway, good luck.
good point, i think the documentation is clear enough on what a block is, though it needs some work on the link section.AngryWolf wrote:In my honest opinion, sometimes that's a good approach to solve configuration issues, however if the person asking for help doesn't know what a named block is, I suppose he/she don't have all the basic knowledge about the configuration format. I would have to disagree. the FAQ states:TheOne wrote:good point, i think the documentation is clear enough on what a block is, though it needs some work on the link section.AngryWolf wrote:In my honest opinion, sometimes that's a good approach to solve configuration issues, however if the person asking for help doesn't know what a named block is, I suppose he/she don't have all the basic knowledge about the configuration format. The doc/unreal32docs.html files says:No link block named 'something'
The server does not have a (correct) linkblock with that name, it should be: link servername {. Servername is the name of the remote me { } block, not the ip or something.
link <server-name> {
........
};
};
First of all server-name is the name of your remote server, the name the remote server has in his me { } block, like hub.blah.com (not the IP and can be different than hostname).
I don't see how that could be more clear or improved upon.

I had just found it confusing, i finally worked it out though.katsklaw wrote:I would have to disagree. the FAQ states:TheOne wrote:good point, i think the documentation is clear enough on what a block is, though it needs some work on the link section.AngryWolf wrote:In my honest opinion, sometimes that's a good approach to solve configuration issues, however if the person asking for help doesn't know what a named block is, I suppose he/she don't have all the basic knowledge about the configuration format. TheOne, perhaps you could elaborate of *why* you found it confusing or what part was confusing you.
Many times technical docs are written by very techincal people. This causes an effect that could leave the doc confusing to the layman or to a newbie. New users SHOULD offer feedback to authors. Otherwise the doc will remain confusing.
Perfect example is that I find the docs to be in plain English and as simple as they can be, you however didn't. It's possible that since I've been on IRC for nearly a decade has made it so I see technical docs easier that you do.

RE: Epona services
I384 the answer to your problem, I just solved for my own server by looking closely at the link block.i have searching on google, and i have founded epona, my only problem is " *** LocOps -- Link denied for services.crosys.mine.nu() (No link block named 'services.crosys.mine.nu') [@161.53.201.4.40647] "

Look at the REM positions (the /* and the */) and you will see why Unreal says there's no link block
If you want, i'll hang on ur net. If you run into trouble, if I run into trouble, we can help each other.
