Hostmask

Post by x3teamz »

Hi, I was wondering if there is anyway to mask a users host in the connection notice from certain opers so it says something like:

Code: Select all

-my.server.net- *** Notice -- Client connecting on port 6667: Luffy[away] ([email protected]) [clients]
and if there is also a way to block the following line from certain opers or all:

Code: Select all

x3teamz is connecting from *@127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1

1. No, it always shows real hostnames.
2. No, IRCOps can always see that line.

Can I ask why you want to hide that information from opers? Well, there are many many other places where you should then hide real hostnames and IP addresses. In my opinion, it's not a big deal if opers see where clients actually connecting from; without that information, they wouldn't be able to do their job. Or if you don't trust in your opers, then you have chosen wrong ones, and I strongly suggest you to remove their oper blocks.
