Setting +r without services

Post by HDR »

Is there any way to set +r on a channel without any services? I'm running a 1-channel server and the channel becomes empty often, is there any way to keep it open and have it keep the topic and modes and not automatically op the first user that comes back in?

Setting +r without services, in my experience, cannot be done. (Although I haven't yet tried setting mode +S on myself.)

As for your second question, if you want all of that without using services, you'll have to get a bot to permanently sit in the channel, keeping it open.

Even SAMODE won't set it :) . As for +S, it doesn't work :P . You have to have an actual U:Line (iow AngryWolf's m_uline module).

Oh, and in addition, +r does NOT keep a channel open. In fact, all it means is that a channel is registered.

Yes. Services are the things that keep the modes and topic, not the ircd.
