SSL causes lag on my server

Hello,
I have enabled SSL on my server and it causes lag, but the port 6667 doesnt .
I dont know why there is a lag, help me please

PS: I'm French and my english is not very good, sorry

SSL is a very CPU intensive process. If many users/servers are using SSL, there will be lag, especially if you have a slow CPU/low memory and are not using a hardware-based cryptographic processor.
