I have a feeling that you are always ignoring the existence of the FAQ. The cloak-key problem could have already been solved if you had read the answer of question #20.

ok I think I fixed it all now how exactly do I start the server is that in the faq also

not one file says read me but ne ways I went into cmd on ms dos and started the server I think but now when I try to connect it says unable to resolve

How did you start it before? Because you could. I think you should do the same. Or if Unreal starts, but nothing else happens, then most likely you have installed Unreal as a service. If that's the problem, I'm suggesting the FAQ again (question #9).

(By the way I removed my previous post, because it came into my mind that you aren't using Windows, sorry.)

alright lemme check on that and oh before I started it by going to ms dos moving my way into the folder of unreal then putting in unreal.exe start

I'm not an expert of Windows, but I've never installed Unreal as a service, and I usually run wircd.exe. I guess unreal.exe only makes sense if Unreal is istalled as a service, but I'm not sure.

funny thing is the error log doesn't show any enw erorrs

And about the "unable to resolve" problem: if you don't know how domain names work, you should immediately stop using Unreal and read a documentation about domain names, because basic networking knowledge is required to use Unreal. And while you don't have a registered domain name, use an IP address to connect to your server. You can type "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" if the server is run on the same host.
