Am I allowed to get a configuration file sent to me from someone? The example code provided seems to be not working. Please don't start yelling at me for not reading things because I have been reading things for a while, and havent seen anything else to change. I figure people who have been doing this for a while might know a quick solution.
I tried the program on a laptop (Windows XP) and it said there were errors in the code, I cant think of the errors off the top of my head becuase im on the destop right now, then I tried it on one of my desktops (Windows Server 2003) and the program doesn't seem to be loading at all. I am trying to run the icon on the desktop and the wirc.exe file in the root folder, however, neither of them do anything in the Windows 2003. I tried running it in compatibility mode without any luck there either.
I was just hoping maybe someone could just send me an attachment of their config file that I could use, Im not sure how much of it contains information unique to the system it is on but from what I can tell a lot of it is generally the same.
Configuration File
Firstly just so you know the example.conf isnt designed to work without changing (im saying that because from what you said i got the impression you hadnt changed it bu im sorry if im wrong)
Secondly the errors usually tell you what the problems with the config file are. They even tell you roughly where to look too like "unrealircd.conf:100" where 100 would be the line number for example.
Thirdly if youre running it as a service you can find the config file errors in service.log on the windows version.

The only thing I saw that it mentioned to change was whether it should run in Windows or Linux. I'm assuming there is more, if so, how much?
I looked at the lines it said it found the errors in but none of them showed any obvious available changes I could make. A few of them were on a line alone with the word 'option'. The other ones were naming servers, and I didn't see anything obviously wrong.
