Nickname and realname limitations

What are the limitations for the nicks and realname? I mean which characters are allowed?

I tried to search this info on the Unreal manual and faq but my search was not successful.

Well the nickname length is obvious, every time you connect Unreal sends "NICKLEN=30." Realnames though are limited to 50 characters.

Codemastr, thanks, but I was referring which characters are not allowed (i.e.: *, ~,...).

I knew how to know and manage the length of nicks.
